This competition was the subject of a studio project dealing with the design of a new information center for the upcoming Documenta 13 - one of the largest worldwide modern art expositions held every five years in Kassel, Germany. This project responds to existing conditions while also providing a location of information and exchange for the Documenta art exposition. This building is thought of as an extension of the city landscape - a light structure that contains many free-flowing indoor rooms. With the introduction of a roof structure just below the crown of the trees, the trees are separated in to the crown and the trunk in order to reveal the tree element in a new light. This allows visitors to walk along tree tops on the second floor and observe tree trunks on the ground floor.
