For the final masters-level building construction course in Münster we began by researching various methods of attaining Passiv-Haus certification, then incorporated our findings in to this office building using wood frame construction. Our overall building concept incorporates sustainable techniques, such as rain water harvesting and a free-standing green wall to aid in shading of the south facade. The especially thick walls allow for strong insulation properties and on the well-insulated roof are a series of photovoltaic panels, to aid in energy creation. Warm water and building heating and cooling needs are supplied by geo-thermal technology. The central atrium not only connects the different levels of the building, it is also the central point of a passive ventilation system and allows for an optimal use of natural daylight.
